Bradford's Family Learning Festival was launched on Saturday 4 October with a spectacular event at the National Media Museum and Bradford Central Library. Eight-year-old Caitlan Brewster-Craig cut the ribbon outside the connecting doors between the National Media Museum and Bradford Central Library and officially opened the festival: “The festival starts here. Let the fun begin.” Caitlan declared.

Many families came to take part in the art and story-telling activities which ran across both buildings and the face painting and balloon modelling proved to be very popular amongst the children whilst families had the chance to work with local artist, Claire Wellsley-Smith, to help create large colourful tapestries which will be displayed in libraries across the district.

Guest speakers, John Gaskin, Education Bradford’s Managing Director and Trisha Hartley, Chief Executive for the Campaign for Learning, praised the unique partnership between

Education Bradford’s Family Learning Team, Bradford Libraries, the National Media Museum and Bradford Museums and Galleries for their hard work in helping create an exciting and innovative programme of events which are taking place across the district in various schools, libraries, museums and early years settings almost everyday this month.
