iphone_070609We are proud to announce the second Regional Mobile Learning Conference will take place in Bradford on 20th May 2010

The bMobLe “Next Generation Learning” Conference 2010 aims to share best practice and suggest ways that mobile technologies can be integrated appropriately into the classroom. The bMobLe Conference will take place on Thursday 20th May 2010 and is being held at the Abundant Life Centre in Bradford. This regional mobile learning conference is aimed at teachers, SMTs and consultants - both LA and independent.

We are delighted to announce that Tim Rylands will be delivering our keynote presentation. Tim, a Primary school teacher for over 20 years has always maintained that in order to gain experience you need to do it. In order to do it you need to want to do it!

This year's Film & animation competition to be held at the National Media Museum on the 5th July is now open for schools to register. Interested schools need to register by the 28th May and entries have to be submitted by the 11th June. The annual event is very popular and culminates in a black tie, red carpet event at the National Media Museum. Click here more further details

Grand Prix Multiplication is a multi-player racing game for multiplication. Students race against each other to capture the Multiplication Cup! How quickly the student correctly answers the multiplication problem determines how quickly the race car will go. The student with the fastest rate of correct answers will win the race. Hits and misses are recorded and displayed at the end of the game, along with the student’s rate. 1-4 players can play at once.

Do you have families who are on an income of £27,000 or less?  Are they in KS1 / KS4 or KS5? Do they want to buy a computer (and internet if required) and would like 50% support to do this?

All schools wising to apply on behalf of their families need to get their applications to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it asap.  The family can choose any device as there is a range of educational needs.  This is not one device per family but one device per child, so long as the children are within the relevant key stages.

Criteria to apply are;

Family criteria

Families on an income of £27,000 or less

Only applies to families in KS1 / KS4 / KS5

No limit on the number of applications per family.

50% support given through a grant via the school (families cannot apply individually).

 

School criteria

£50 application fee per school, minimum of 10 applicants.

You need to be an affiliated member of the e-LF.

Deadline extended until 19th March - ACT NOW!

Taking a topic-based approach, the new portal aims to consolidate Becta's e-safety materials for all audiences, while also providing multimedia exemplar materials to demonstrate e-safety in practice. It contains footage from the Yorkshire Film Archive collection, along with catalogue descriptions, contextual information and suggested activities.

YFA Online Learning is an interactive site and we hope education practitioners will use the information and activities provided, but also download and use the films creatively, adding your own uses and activities onto the site for others to share.

This report is based on evidence from a small-scale survey carried out between April and July 2009 in 35 maintained schools in England (includes 4 Bradford schools). It evaluates the extent to which the schools taught pupils to adopt safe and responsible practices in using new technologies, and how they achieved this. It also assesses the extent and quality of the training the schools provided for their staff. It responds to the report of the Byron Review, Safer children in a digital world.
