The excerpt below from Jane Eyre below describes her experience as an orphan staying as a dependant with relatives. John Reed is described as a merciless bully who torments Jane. The language is extremely rich and provides excellent examples of ‘wow’ words and vivid imagery. The students have studied and shared the text can choose either to continue the episode or to write a subsequent chapter in which it is decided Jane should be sent away to boarding school.
