Looking for an exciting new project for your school council to really sink its teeth into? Then look no further! Sainsbury’s has launched Active Kids Get Talking , a free PSHE and Citizenship initiative for 7–14 year olds that will give your school council the chance to really make a difference to the future of the massive national Active Kids scheme.
Schools are being invited to have their say about what they think the next Active Kids programme should be by taking part in one of the biggest youth consultations in Britain. Sainsbury's have come up with a range of ideas for Active Kids and about how they can support young people around the country in different ways - from health and fitness to enterprise to school clubs. But they want to know what schools and school councils really think.
By entering the consultation online, schools have the chance to become Active Kids Consultants and attend specially designed conferences around the country to take part in workshops and debates. The best ideas will win schools a place at the national event and meet celebrities such as Jamie Oliver and Kelly Holmes.
Easy to use toolkits for 7–11 and 11–14 year old students are available on the website to help schools run their consultation . With step-by-step guides, questionnaires, checklists and assembly presentations provided, entering is simple. The materials are flexible and can offer handy support for other future school council projects.
Schools can also win up to 6000 Active Kids vouchers, School Councils UK toolkits and voting software worth £350 by taking part.
