Are you interested in the future of education? Futurelab event for teachers and learners

Futurelab is working with the DCSF on a programme of consultation and research into this question, we are keen to involve schools and young people in the debate. We’re holding a one-day workshop in Birmingham on 15 January 2008, with activities designed to help teachers and learners (aged 11-18) identify their hopes, fears and priorities for the future of education, and contribute to this important research programme

.

We would welcome teachers and students (1 teacher for every 2 students) from any schools who wish to take part to the Birmingham Science Centre on Tuesday 15 January 2008. The teachers and students will then work in separate workshops, with activities designed to promote thinking, stimulate debate, and identify hopes, fears and priorities for the future of education. Working in this way will allow teachers and students to have a voice in such an influential area. We anticipate that this will be a lively and interesting day!

The event will start at 9.30am and will finish at 3.30pm. Refreshments will be available for all throughout the day, including lunch, and we will reimburse the costs of any cover that teachers will incur, plus transportation costs for all participants on the day. The participants will also have free entry to the Science Centre after the workshop if wished.

If you would like to register for this event please contact us by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by telephone – 0117 915 8200, with your name, your school’s name and contact details, plus the names and ages of the students who will attend the event with you.

The findings will be available on a dedicated Beyond Current Horizons website – details to be confirmed in Jan 2008.
