Application process – All you need to know

Application process (Process chart on Home Page)

Ø      Complete family Learning application form included at the back of Prospectus and forward it to Family Learning Team (see contacts page for address details)

Ø      Family Learning team approve Courses applied for

Ø      Family Learning Tutor allocated and contract sent to school/centre with tutor details and school/centre details sent to allocated tutor

Ø      Initial visit arranged by tutor with school/centre contact person to finalise course delivery details

Ø      Contract signed and completed with dates/times by school/centre contact person and returned to family learning team before start of course

Ø      Within one month of end date, school/centre to invoice Family Learning team for costs incurred with receipts/invoices attached

Funding for delivering Family Learning Courses

Tutors will be supplied and paid for by Family Learning.  Further funding is also available to schools/centres for the following:

Ø      Crèche (or OFSTED registered childcare provider)

Ø      Refreshments

Ø      Consumable resources/materials

Ø      Room Hire (if room hired outside school/children centre premises)

Ø      Staff time (if additional to normal working hours)

School/Centre responsibilities

Ø      To nominate a contact person responsible for organising Family Learning courses and be available to family learning tutors

Ø      To recruit a minimum of 9 learners to start a course

Ø      50% of recruited learners should be without Maths or English GCSE or equivalent qualification

Ø      Organise and provide crèche facilities for all 30 hours courses (for 12 hour courses if needed)

Ø      Make Wider Family Learning courses available to families new to Family Learning

Ø      The Learning and Skills Council will only let us count one learner per year on WFL courses and one per year on FLLN courses.  In order for us to access funding it is important that schools and centres ensure that new learners are recruited onto any subsequent short courses.  It is also important that where possible, existing learners are progressed from 12 hour to 30 hour programmes.

Contact Family Learning team if you have queries about any of the above
