GPS Cultural Heritage Trail of Little Horton (with accompanying DVD and CD ROM)

You are now able to download the GPS Cultural Heritage Trail of Little Horton, produced by Buttershaw, Carlton Bolling, Thornton and St Joseph's Schools) in partnership with Carlton Bolling City Learning Centre. The trail and DVD focus on the history, religious diversity and demographic, social and cultural changes in the Little Horton area of Bradford. The DVD prepares pupils for taking part in a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) guided trail of Little Horton and provides a springboard to help children research and record aspects of their own localities.  

To add this trail to your Smartphone visit http://www.mscapers.com and download the mscape suite - full instructions on getting started are on the site. Once you have the mscape player on your Smartphone you will need to:

1) Enter 'Little Horton Cultural Heritage Trail' in the search facility (top right – labelled ‘search for mediascapes’)

2) Click on  'Little Horton Cultural Heritage Trail' on the search results page

3) Click on the ‘download now’ tab.

It is designed to be of use in Upper Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three. It has cross curricular potential and the accompanying CD identifies links with RE, Citizenship and the National Curriculum programmes of study.

The Cultural Heritage Trail of Little Horton GPS Trail and DVD

Aims (Purpose)

• To explore the history, religious diversity, demographic, social and cultural changes in Bradford
• To encourage children to reflect upon how events and actions in the past, have influenced the present and may have an influence on the future.
• To promote a greater understanding of diversity through interaction with the environment and to promote education outside the classroom in a community setting
• To dispel stereotypes, identify commonality and value diversity
• To provide opportunities for children to work collaboratively
• To support the delivery of the Bradford Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education
• To embed ICT in RE, Citizenship and the rest of the curriculum
• To help schools in fulfilling the duty to promote community cohesion
