cohesionbradford.org is a website managed by Education Bradford’s Diversity and Cohesion Service, for all those interested in community cohesion in the Bradford Metropolitan District and beyond.  It is a site that explores national and district wide initiatives in community cohesion aimed at children and young people. It provides information about on - going projects and a forum for teachers and others involved in education, to share experiences, views and good practice.

A ground breaking leadership programme for black and minority ethnic middle and senior managers in schools.

This programme enables participants form a variety of backgrounds to learn from each other and to develop their effectiveness as leaders

It also offers the opportunity for BME aspiring leaders to network, work collaboratively and receive peer support , guided by an outstanding regional team of black leaders who are cognisant of the barriers to promotion that exist for BME professionals.

The programme aims to:

  • Identify potential black and ethnic minority senior leaders –teachers who are moving on to deputy leadership, head of year, assistant headship or senior leadership positions

  • Provide culturally sensitive leadership coaching of the highest calibre drawing on best practice in education

  • Develop culturally literate leadership that addresses the key skills needed for current and future school leaders

  • Examine ways in which equality and diversity are either undermined or promoted by the process of schooling

  • Develop the capacity of school leaders to lead differently and increase the numbers of thriving, high calibre black and ethnic minority ethnic leaders in our schools

Who can apply?

Any black or minority ethnic middle or senior manager who works in a Bradford school can apply for this programme. Applicants will be expected to complete an application form and have an informal interview with staff from Bradford.

The criteria are:

  • Teaching for a minimum of 5 years

  • At least a years experience in a management /leadership role

  • A commitment to raising the profile of BME leaders across the region
