The Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMA) Team in Bradford is commited to meeting the five outcomes of Every Child Matters for ethnic minority children and young people in our district. As we continue to support schools and local communities, we believe that our work as a team will always be inspired by the following set of principles:

• Raising standards of achievement for those minority ethnic groups who areunder-achieving or at risk of under-achieving
• Meeting the particular needs of children and young people for whom English is an additional language(EAL)
• Providing support to meet the educational needs of new arrivals, refugee, asylum seeker and traveller children
• Working with National Strategies to develop and share good EAL practice locally,regionally and nationally
• Ensuring inclusion and access to mainstream education for EAL minority ethnic pupils.
• Responding to the recommendations of Every Child Matters
• Working in partnership with persity & Cohesion Team, Education Service for New Communities and Travellers Team and all other Education Bradford teams
